Staying in

Back to Things to do

Staying in for an evening is always a great option.
To help you while away an evening or or even a rainy afternoon we have provided a few things in the cottage that we thought might be useful.

Deep Mid-Wicket Peak District holiday cottage - Woodburning Stove
• The wood burning stove is a great focal point for an evening in. We enjoy lighting it, grabbing a drink and reading a good book or watching a film. It’s not difficult to light and there are instructions for those who are not that sure. You will get a basket of wood supplied but will need to top it up from local supplies(details in the cottage).

• There is a small selection of DVDs in the sitting room including some for children. Apologies if they are not to your taste!

• We left some of our favourite books on the shelves and added in a few local Peak District guidebooks, walking books and maps as well as some general interest and fiction books. Feel free to take one of the many paperbacks left by previous guests but please leave one of your own to replace it.

• There is also a small selection of games if you are that way inclined. The games include packs of cards, chess / draughts, dominoes etc.

• With the Wifi access if you bring a lap top with you, you could spend the evening surfing the net and planning your activities for the next day.

• In the sitting room you will also find a selection of menus for the local takeaways so you can always order some food and not even do any cooking.

• There is also plenty of seating and a BBQ out in the garden so on a warm summers evening you can always go outside and enjoy the peace and quiet.

If you think of anything else you would like us to provide please let us know.
