Things you don’t need to pack
We’ve tried to think of all of those little things that are a hassle to bring and take up space in your bag or you would have to go out and buy after you arrive. There is also a very short list of things you might want to bring!
You don’t need to pack:
- Bedding
- Towels – You’ll get 1 bath sheet & 1 hand towel each
- Hairdryer
- Tea towels
- Oven gloves
- Apron
- Clingfilm & aluminium foil
- Plastic bowls, plates, beakers & cutlery for small children
- High Chair
- Handwash
- Washing up liquid
- Dish cloths & floor cloths
- Washing powder and fabric conditioner
- Multi-surface cleaner
- Toilet paper & cleaner
- Bathroom cleaner
- Bin liners
- Fire lighter
- Scrubbing brush – for cleaning muddy boots
- Children’s bathroom step
- Children’s toilet trainer seat
- Infant’s travel cot – you need to bring bedding
- Christmas decorations – Christmas decorations will be up in the cottage from the first week of Dec through until the new year.
There will also be a welcome pack waiting for you in the kitchen that contains:
- Fresh semi-skimmed milk
- Tea, coffee and sugar
- Loaf of bread
- 6 eggs
- Sauces, mustard and vinegar
- Salt & pepper
- Jam and marmalade
- Butter
- Packet of biscuits
- Bottle of wine
- Olive oil
- Basket of Fire Wood
This means that if you arrive late there is something for you to eat & drink after your journey.
Please do let us know if anyone coming with you has a gluten or dairy intolerance and we will make sure they are included in the welcome pack.
We cannot however guarantee that any produce we provide is free from any other potential allergen.
Shopping
If you want to shop online before you leave home and get your groceries delivered, the cottage is within the delivery radius for Tesco but none of the other major supermarkets.
If you want to shop once you get to the cottage there is a great local general store just a mile away in Chinley (try Megs cakes!) or you can get lots of things in the small independent shops in Whaley Bridge including a bakers, butchers, grocers, off-licence and pet shop. Alternatively there are Morrison & Tesco supermarkets within 2 miles.
If you want good quality meat we recommend Wild & Sons butchers in Whaley Bridge (see our “The Nearest” map for the location)
You might want to think about packing:
- Hand torch – just in case you come back from the pub after dark!
- Padlock – if you want to store things in the garden shed
- BBQ charcoal – if you fancy using the BBQ
If you go to stay at the cottage and there is something you think we should add to this list please let us know by adding a comment at the bottom of this page.
