Holiday Cottage Location Directions and Parking
Cottage Location
The holiday cottage was once part of the busy hamlet of Crist, which is still marked on the OS maps of the area. However Crist is now part of the small Peak District village of Buxworth in Derbyshire. Buxworth, a small historic village with the ubiquitous pub and a church, lies within the region known as the High Peak or the Dark Peak on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Nine miles North West of Buxton, 1 mile North East of Whaley Bridge and 1 mile South West of Chinley.
The Buxworth of today is very different from it’s industrial past and the cottage location is now quiet and pretty instead of dirty and noisy!
The cottage, located on Western Lane, is opposite Buxworth cricket ground and surrounded by open countryside which means you can walk, run or cycle from the door. It also means that we are a very dog friendly holiday cottage. The historic Bugsworth Basin and Peak Forrest Canal are only a few hundred yards away as is the Peak Forrest Tramway Trail and the Navigation Inn. Also being located fairly close to the A6 means getting out to enjoy what the rest of the Peak District has to offer is easy too.

Directions
To get directions from where you are, right click on the bed icon on the map and select “Get directions to here” and fill in your home location. Alternatively you can dowload our own detailed directions here.
Parking
There is nearly always a parking space outside the cottage on the opposite side of the lane. Please always try and park in front of the large gate to the cricket club but leave the small gate accessible for pedestrians. As there is only one parking space per house please try not to park in front of any of the other houses. If you need more space or there is someone temporarily parked outside the cottage there are always spaces available either at the end of the lane on the left or down the track to the left. You will see other cars parked down there.
Cricket Ball WARNING
Because the ground is only relatively small, during the course of a cricket match and some practice sessions, balls do get hit over the wall towards the houses and parked cars! We would advise that on cricket days (see the schedule in the cottage) if you are not out for the day you move your car further up to the end of the lane. The lane does get busy on a Saturday during the season from about 1pm onwards. Move your car early and you should easily be able to park away from the house. Most matches are over by 7 pm when you can retrieve your car.
